Scotland offers some of the most exciting cycling in the UK, and has been the mainstay of our multi day adventures that have brought us all together over many years. Alongside these, there are some amazing day rides from the central belt that must be experienced!

Glasgow and West of Scotland – Day Rides
Ride to the Radar
One of the finest rides possible from the Central Belt in a day. Starting from Carstairs (check the trains carefully) or Lanark (trains far more frequent) this ride takes you up to the highest paved road in Scotland, the car free climb up to the Radome at Green Lowther. Expect stunning views and weaving in and out of the clouds!

Clyde Coast
A scenic ride along the Clyde Coast from Johnstone, near Glasgow, easily accessible by train.
Five Corners of Bute
A fun ride around Bute, and a slightly less logistically complex alternative to the Five Ferries Challenge! Stunning coastal views, and easy to access via the frequent trains to Weymss Bay and the ferry to Bute (check timings – plenty of connections)
Six Lochs of Cowal
A stunning ride, very easily accessible from Glasgow using the train to Gourock and the Western Ferries service to Dunoon. Once off the ferry you will reach another world, with virtually car-free roads and classic Scottish mountain and loch scenery – a must ride!
Into the Ayrshire Alps
South Ayrshire is little known but beautiful. This ride starts from the easy to access Ayr station. You’ll take in coastal views towards Arran, followed by jaunt into the wild and remote forests south of the pretty village of Straiton. Except few cars and loads of space to yourself.
The Wall of Talla
A long but stunning ride from Carstairs, taking in the infamous Wall of Talla, a steep climb south of Peebles. Trains to Carstairs are infrequent, so consider carefully and do this ride on a Saturday in the summer. You can also start from Biggar for a shorter ride. Remote and breathtaking.

Edinburgh, Lothian and Fife – Day Rides
Callander, Strathyre and Loch Earn
A super scenic ride through mountains and lochs, very easily accessible by train from both Edinburgh and Glasgow – with trains terminating at Dunblane not requiring bike reservations.
Over the Lammermuirs
A high and mighty route over the Lammermuir hills from close to Edinburgh, with fine views.
Edinburgh to St Andrews
A great adventure including the Forth road bridge and the University town of St Andrews, ending with trains back from Leuchars. Some, but not all trains on this route require bike reservations.
